# Gestures: Pinch for Volume and Swipe the Art to Change Songs

> Two optional gestures, both off until you turn them on in System settings: pinch anywhere on a room or music page to change the volume, and swipe the album art right for the next song, left for the previous.

Somos InControl has two gestures you can switch on. Both are **off by default**, so nothing changes until you choose it, and with them off the pages scroll, swipe between rooms and tap exactly as before.

## Turning them on

    **Pinch for volume** and **Swipe art to change songs** are the last two switches before **Open iOS Settings for Somos**. Each works on its own; turn on one or both.

## Pinch for volume

With it on, put **two fingers anywhere on a room page or the music page**: **spread them apart to turn the volume up, pinch them together to turn it down.** The change is relative to where the volume was when your fingers landed, a **Volume N%** pill floats at the top with the live number while you pinch and fades after you let go, and you feel a light tap at each step. The slider still works exactly as before — this is an extra way in, not a replacement.

## Swipe art to change songs

With it on, **swipe the album art on the player right for the next song, left to go back to the previous one** — one song per swipe, with a tap of haptic and a small nudge of the art (no nudge when Reduce Motion is on). The swipe has to be a clear sideways one: a short drag does nothing, a vertical drag still scrolls the list under the art, and a tap does nothing new.

  Earlier 36 test builds had a two-finger swipe for tracks. It is gone; the art swipe and this switch replace it. Pinch for volume is unchanged.
