# First Launch: Set Up Somos InControl for Sonos® on iOS

> Install Somos InControl from TestFlight, tap Find My Speakers, grant Local Network permission, and take the short tour — no account needed.

The first time you open Somos InControl you land on a welcome screen with one big button: **Find My Speakers**. Tapping it is what triggers the iOS permission prompts, and the moment your speakers are found a short interactive tour walks you through the app. The whole thing takes under a minute, and you don't need a Sonos® account or any prior setup.

  Somos InControl requires **Local Network** permission to find your Sonos® speakers. Without it, the app has nothing to control. See [App Permissions](/getting-started/permissions) for what each permission does and how to re-enable it if you declined.

## Download and set up

  <Step title="Install TestFlight">
    Somos InControl is in public beta and distributed through Apple's TestFlight platform. If you don't have it already, download **TestFlight** for free from the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.

  <Step title="Join the beta">
    Open this link on your device: **[testflight.apple.com/join/2D778AXH](https://testflight.apple.com/join/2D778AXH)**

    Tap **Accept** on the TestFlight page, then tap **Install** to download Somos InControl. TestFlight will notify you when updates are available.

  <Step title="Tap Find My Speakers">
    Open the app. The welcome screen explains that you'll be asked to allow Local Network (and Bluetooth). Tap **Find My Speakers** to start. If you just want to look around without any Sonos® hardware, tap **Explore Demo Mode** instead — three demo rooms appear, and an **Exit Demo** button at the top of each page takes you back.

  <Step title="Grant Local Network permission">
    iOS asks whether to allow the app to find and connect to devices on your local network. Tap **Allow**.

    This lets the app discover and control your Sonos® speakers over Wi-Fi. It does not give the app access to the internet or to any device outside your home network. If you tap **Don't Allow** by mistake, the app shows you how to re-enable it in **Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network**, with a **Try Again** button.

  <Step title="Grant Bluetooth permission (optional)">
    iOS also asks for Bluetooth. This is used only to spot Sonos® speakers that are nearby but not yet on your Wi-Fi — a new speaker you're about to set up. Tap **Allow** for that, or **Don't Allow** to skip it. The app works fully without it for any speaker already on your network.

  <Step title="Discovery">
    The app searches your subnet and listens for Bonjour at the same time. On most home networks this takes a few seconds. Every Sonos® room appears — soundbar rooms, stereo pairs, single and portable speakers — and the first one opens.

  <Step title="Take the interactive tour">
    As soon as your rooms are on screen, a nine-step tour starts with highlighted callouts:

    **Welcome → The Menu → Volume → Sound Presets → Fine-tune EQ → Build Your Home Theater → Music & Favorites → Your Rooms → You're All Set**

    Tap **Next** and **Back** to move through it, or **Skip** at any point. Nothing is locked until you finish it.

After the tour, you may see two one-time notices: **Before you start**, which explains the optional Speaker Checks questionnaires, and — if discovery found two systems or suspects one is missing — **Did we find everything?** See [Multiple Systems](/rooms/multiple-systems).

## Replay the tour anytime

## What gets discovered

Every Sonos® room on your Wi-Fi appears automatically — you don't choose rooms manually. What you can control depends on what's in each room:

    Everything above, plus TV / Music source, the audio-format badge, Night Sound, Speech Boost, height, surround and home theater setup.

    Any room with a bonded Sub — soundbar or not — adds the subwoofer level, on/off, and crossover on an Amp.

    The bottom bar holds the top 4 rooms of your menu order as tabs, plus a second page of saved groups. Hold and drag in the menu to choose which 4 appear.

<Tip>
  If a room isn't appearing, make sure your iPhone or iPad is on the **same Wi-Fi network** as your Sonos® speakers — not a guest network or an IoT VLAN. Then open the menu and use **Advanced → Rescan My Network**.
