# Grouping Rooms: Play the Same Audio Everywhere

> Group Sonos® rooms so they play together, control each room's volume from one page, tune the soundbar's group delay, and save a group as a favourite.

Grouped rooms play the same audio in sync. Somos InControl lets you build and break groups from any room page, keeps every room's volume within reach while grouped, and lets you save a group you use often so a single tap rebuilds it.

## Grouping and ungrouping

    Whatever this room is playing is what the group will play.

    It's in the top-right of the room page. The **Group Rooms** sheet lists every other room on the system with a switch.

    Switch a room **on** to add it to this room's group; switch it **off** to make it standalone again. Changes apply immediately. Tap **Done** when you're finished.

<Note>
  Two rooms that share the same name can't be told apart by Sonos® when grouping. If the sheet points this out, rename one of them first — press and hold the room name at the top of its page, or swipe left on it in the menu.

## Volume in a group

While a room is grouped, its status line reads **Grouped with …** and its page shows one labelled volume slider per room in the group, so you can balance each room to taste — the group keeps playing together regardless of the individual levels. Presets, EQ and the other controls on the page still apply to that room only.

## Group Audio Delay

When a soundbar is grouped with other rooms, a **Group Audio Delay** stepper appears in its EQ card. It steps the delay applied to the *other* rooms so their audio lines up with the bar instead of echoing — the same setting the Sonos® app keeps under System settings. It's hidden on an ungrouped room because it has no effect there.

## Saving a group as a favourite

At the bottom of the Group Rooms sheet, tap **Save as favourite** to keep this combination. Saved groups live on the second page of the bottom bar (up to 4 slots) and are rebuilt with one tap. See [Favorites](/rooms/favorites#saved-groups-second-page-of-the-bar).
