# Your Rooms in Somos InControl: Controls and Navigation

> How rooms work in Somos InControl — what each room page contains, which controls each room type unlocks, and how to switch between rooms.

In Somos InControl, a "room" maps directly to a Sonos® room on your home network. Every room in your Sonos® system — a home theater with a soundbar and surrounds, a stereo pair, a single standalone speaker, a portable Move or Roam — gets its own page. What you can control in each room depends on the hardware in it: all rooms share a common set of controls, and certain room types unlock more.

<Note>
  Somos InControl discovers every Sonos® room on your Wi-Fi automatically each time the app launches. You don't need to add or configure rooms — they appear as soon as the app finds them, usually within a few seconds.
</Note>

## Anatomy of a room page

From top to bottom:

1. **Room name** — press and hold it to rename the room. The new name applies everywhere, including the Sonos® app.
2. **Status line** — connection state and the model ("Era 100 · Stereo Pair", "Move 2 · 87% ⚡" for a portable with its battery level), or "Grouped with …" when the room is in a group. The **group** button in the top-right opens [Group Rooms](/rooms/groups).
3. **Source row** (soundbars) — TV / Music pills and the audio-format badge. On other rooms, the **Music** button opens the [Music sheet](/features/music).
4. **Volume card** — pinned as you scroll. See [Volume](/features/volume).
5. **Sound Presets** — three TV presets. See [Sound Presets](/features/sound-presets).
6. **EQ card** — sliders and toggles. See [EQ & Trueplay](/features/eq-and-trueplay).
7. **Room diagram** — what's bonded to the room; press and hold to set up speakers. See [Room Diagram](/rooms/room-diagram).

Pull down anywhere on the page to force a refresh; the app also resyncs in the background about every 30 seconds.

  <Card title="Rooms that need attention" icon="triangle-exclamation">
    A speaker running older firmware than the rest of the household shows **Needs a firmware update** and its page has no controls until the Sonos® app updates it. A Sub that isn't bonded to anything gets a page explaining where to bond it.

## Switching rooms

* **Swipe** left or right on a room page to move between rooms.
* **Bottom bar** — the top 4 rooms in your menu order sit here as tabs. Tap to switch instantly. A button at the end flips the bar to your **Saved Groups**. See [Favorite Rooms](/rooms/favorites).
* **Menu** — tap the menu button in the top-left; every room on the current system is listed. Tap a room to switch to it, hold and drag to reorder, or swipe left on a room to rename it.

If you have more than one Sonos® system (an S1 and an S2 household, or two homes), the menu's **System** section lets you switch between them. See [Multiple Systems](/rooms/multiple-systems).
