Fall asleep to music, or let the TV go quiet on its own. The sleep timer stops the room playing after the time you pick. It is your Sonos® speaker’s own timer, so it keeps running when Somos is closed or your iPhone is locked.

Set a sleep timer

1

Open the room

The timer is for the room you have open.
2

Open the menu

Tap the menu button in the top-left corner. Sleep timer has its own row, just under Rooms.
3

Pick a length

Tap Sleep timer. The pop-up has Off, 15 min, 30 min, 45 min, 60 min and 90 min. Tap one and the timer starts.
To stop it early, open the pop-up again and tap Off. To change it, tap another length. When the timer ends, the room stops playing. The sound stops; it does not fade out.

See the time left

While a timer runs, you can see how long is left in three places:
  • On the menu row — Sleep timer shows the minutes left.
  • In the pop-up — the time left sits at the top, above the choices.
  • On the room page — a small moon and the minutes, for example ☾ 23m. On a soundbar it sits on the source row, right after the connection (TV · eARC ☾ 23m, for example). A room without a soundbar shows it on the row with the Music button. The music page shows it too. The moon is yellow and the minutes are grey. At 5 minutes or less, the minutes turn red.

Grouped rooms

Sonos® keeps one sleep timer for a whole group. Set it on any room in the group and the whole group stops together.

On your Apple Watch

The Sleep Timer complication shows the time left on your watch face, or Off. Tap it and the Watch app opens on the timer choices: Off and the same five lengths. The time left shows at the top, with the same yellow moon, and turns red at 5 minutes or less. See Watch Face.
The timer lives on the speaker, so Somos also shows a timer that was set somewhere else, such as in the Sonos® app.
