Somos is free for one room, with everything that room can do. Whole Home gives every other room the full Somos, and lets them play together. The free room gets presets, EQ, the Sub and surrounds, music, the Lock Screen card, the Home Screen widgets, Siri, the Apple Watch and iCloud sync, for as long as you like. Whole Home is a one-time purchase that opens up the rest of your home.
On TestFlight right now, nothing is locked. Every room and feature stays open to testers, exactly as before. The Whole Home page is there so you can try Buy and Restore Purchases. A purchase in TestFlight is a free test purchase and doesn’t carry over to the App Store version. This page describes how Whole Home works once Somos is on the App Store.

What Whole Home adds

  • Every room, fully loaded: presets, EQ, sub and surround tuning, music and Apple Watch in every room, not just one
  • Group rooms: play the same thing anywhere, with one volume for the group and each room’s own level
  • Saved groups: save “Downstairs” or “Whole House” and bring it back with one tap on the wheel
  • Home theater fronts: add a pair of separate front speakers to your soundbar
  • Yours for good: one purchase, no subscription, shared with your family through Family Sharing
  • A one-room home is never asked. With only one room, there is nothing more to open, and Somos never shows the offer.
  • Your free room is the room you open first. If that room ever leaves your home, the next room you open becomes your free room.

Price

Somos launches on the App Store on Tuesday, September 29, with Whole Home at $5.99 as a launch special. The Buy button always shows the App Store’s price for your country.

Buying and restoring

Whole Home has its own page in the menu. Open the menu (top-left) and tap Whole Home, the row under the Upgrade heading, with the price beside it.
1

Buy

Tap Buy for and the price, then confirm with the App Store. The page changes to Thank you for buying Whole Home, with the date you bought it.
2

Restore Purchases

On a new device, or after a reinstall, tap Restore Purchases. The App Store checks your Apple Account and turns Whole Home back on. If there is nothing to restore, the page says No Whole Home purchase was found for this Apple Account.
If a family organiser has to approve the purchase (Ask to Buy), the page says Your purchase is waiting for approval. Whole Home turns on by itself once it goes through.

When you reach something Whole Home covers

Without Whole Home, tapping another room, the group button, a saved group or a front-speaker slot opens a short Whole Home page instead. It says what you tapped, lists what Whole Home adds, and has the same Buy and Restore Purchases buttons. Tap Not now to go back to your free room. Nothing about your free room changes.
The purchase belongs to your Apple Account, not to the iCloud copy of your settings. It works on every iPhone, iPad and Mac signed in to that account. Use Restore Purchases if a device doesn’t pick it up on its own.
